Age old question, not confined to today’s fast paced life we live in. It is a matter of getting the mind organized with tasks and priorities. And then………..there is something else.
The something else is our desires and passions for doing what it is that we believe is ours to do in this lifetime. Each of us has a notion, if not a full out vision, of what our life purpose is and it seems there is so little time to get it all accomplished with everything else there is pulling at us. The truth however is that we have great capacity and when we allow ourselves time for pause, we replenish and gain the insights and energy to move forward.
What are your dreams for your life, the life you really want to have?
I have so many dreams and visions and I have found a way to thread them together into a gorgeous tapestry so they they fit together to create a clear vision of what I need to do, what I must focus upon, and what I intend for the outcomes to be. I’m an author, something I have actually been for my entire life–I started out writing love letters to myself from my imaginary boyfriend in the first grade. I began writing stories to my mother about the why behind my behavior and explaining to her and my dad why my adolescent years had been so feisty. These documents became precious training ground for me to be able to express myself with confidence. Over the years, I have worked to become ever better at sharing my thoughts and feelings in the written as well as the spoken word. When people tell me I am lucky to be published, I redirect their thoughts and share the belief I have that every human has a book inside of them, many actually. The question is — when do we write them?
When we carve out the time to do so. To do that means taking time to rest, relax, think, and craft the story……….that takes reflection and so often that very process is avoided.
Why?
We get distracted, don’t we? We think that there is something else we need to do first. Sometimes this is true but–all too often I witness the ways in which we take turns trying to run from our mind instead of sitting inside of it and allowing the thoughts and feelings to percolate and emerge–organized. It takes time and love and effort.
We each get the same number of minutes in an hour, hours in a day, and so forth………it is how we use that time that makes a difference in a life. Discipline is the art of allowing yourself the dedication to what you crave to become good at that which you desire.
Take the time, friend, allow the dedication to the discipline of becoming the best version of who it is that you are genuinely gifted with the blessings to be. I write these sorts of statements daily and continue to work on my own self because it does indeed take time and patience and desire. I have a passion for life, for truth, for love, for goodness, for overall well-being. Whatever it is that you know inside of your head and heart you need–aim for it, pray about it, allow it to unfold. If it is in the name and heart of positivity, it will open for you.
We have all the time needed for well-being to take hold……if we allow.
