This is the opening of a new month, on the heels of Thanksgiving and the beginning of new holidays where everyone is in a flurry and feeling joyous and also terrified about the stress of it all. Not to stress — relax, breathe, be happy, put a smile on your face until it makes you laugh. Be joy filled — you are alive and vibrant. If you were not, you would be dead to the parts of it that are bigger than you and make you feel so out of sorts. Embrace the stress as apart of the joy — the joy of the anticipation of it all.
What are you worried about?
Are you fat? Drink too much? Don’t have enough money? You’re a failure? No one really likes you? You’re an outcast?
Oh.
Tired of being the most successful one? Everyone wants your money? You are the star, in the limelight and you are tired? Everyone pulls at your time and you want to rest?
Hmmm.
Tough to both sides of the equation — it is all part of the human experience. Connections to others means a certain tension and also a particular brand of happiness when it is all ticking in a good direction, even if only for a moment. Drink in the moment, savor the memory. Whether it is good or otherwise, this too shall pass.
If you are the hero today, hang on — you will be a big shmoe later. If you feel like the idiot today, hang on because your moment of glory will arrive.
Today is December 1st, the opening of a new month, the start of Advent, and the month wherein days will become longer and brighter — all good! Reach down and touch your soul and build upon your inner strength so that you can enjoy it.
