What is it that all of my topics and blogs and programs have in common? The SELF.
The words has been ravaged over time and people often mistake focus on the self as a negative, selfish activity. I understand, and it can certainly go too far as in the case of Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection in the pond and died from self neglect.
Tragic. However, it is also a great bit to ponder.
We need to pay a reasonable amount of attention to our own self, just as we would do for anyone or anything that we love. We need to know about the likes and dislikes, the talents and the deficits, the desires and repellants, the strengths and the weaknesses. Who better to know the self than the self?
It is when we know our own self healthfully and appreciate who we are with every bit of human imperfection, that we can focus upon achieving success. Success is the pursuit and ultimate acquisition of goals we set our sights upon. How can we ever reach for goals with confidence if we don’t know our own self well enough to determine if we have the capacity to achieve?
