The voice in your head is not singular, there are several and it is not a sign that you have a multiple personality disorder. It is an indication of your intellectual abilities to carry on a conversation. The idea of internal operations is interesting and the theme behind your words is indicative of what you think and also feel–about anything. The problem arises when your negative chatter is fighting with your better judgement and the battle escalates to the point where you simply want resolution.
How can you make it happen? When we go off on a bender, thinking about all “the things that can……….” You fill in the blanks. You can do some of your most inspired, creative, imaginative work. Catastrophe looms large and both inspires you and then also exhausts you as you run circles inside of your own thoughts. And at about the point where you decide to just lay back and let it all go because you’ve worked yourself into a state of angst, anxiety, fear, or anger, you realize that there is no such thing as rest for the weary. At that point in time when you might be able to drift off and snooze to get away from it all and relax or just bury it, the twilight moment hits and you find yourself starting all over again.
WHY?
The brain will work and continue on until there is satisfaction. We cannot lie to our own mind, there is no escape from truth.
What IS truth?Resolution to any conflict comes about as the result of the truth that you own inside of your most authentic self. It is your truth, it is what you know in your most clear voice, your most quiet moment. You know it in your gut and there is no alternate.
The internal dialogue conflict resolution is all about giving yourself the space and time and permission to believe in you. If you are able to read this, you are capable of this reality of self resolve. Own it, believe it–however it is that you arrive, be it prayer, meditation, self talk aloud on a great walk, or a long swim, it is yours. Practice and you will find resolve to be yours every bit as much as your own voice and your own truth–it is the strength within you, build it.
