Let it go, let it all go. It feels so good.

I had a feeling of clutteredness — yes, I like to coin terms. Every day as I sat in my office, I felt like I wanted to somehow reorganize or something to make the space feel more open. I am extremely organized and not a hoarder or a piles person and so I knew the issue was more about winter and wanting to freshen things up a bit and so I endured my restlessness for a month. Last weekend, it was 60 degrees and I felt the office storage closet beckoning to me. The doors are kept closed but it was just a thing that was bugging me. I got in there with a big contractor size trash bag and pitched things I did not need–but not for the trash, for charity. Everyone needs good stuff! I had an abundance of items I knew I did not need, so why not share?

I then grabbed a feather duster and touched the tops of all the books and the shelves all the way from to floor to the ceiling. It felt like I could breathe easier. Yes, you get the dust out. You get it out out the room, out of your head, out of your system–very healthy.2014-01-21 13.26.00 I sat back and looked out the windows and thought about how clear my vision had become with one simple exercise. Ahh, I had a bit of satisfaction that I was allowing myself to enjoy.2014-01-21 13.25.27That evening was highly productive because I was not distracted with something bugging me. I spent time writing the outline for my next book–to be announced later this spring. Comfortable in my space, I brewed a cup a tea and found contentment at the close of the evening in a way that only a spring cleaning offers. I sipped, reflected, pretended my tea leaves were telling me a story about coming full circle, and was a little entertained.2014-02-26 12.31.08Go ahead, do some cleaning out for your space, your mind, your heart, and your overall well-being. Then sit and feel lovely, appreciate the strength that resides within you to take charge and shape your world healthfully.
