Tapping my own inner strength

by drdeb / Sunday, 20 October 2013 / Published in Attitude, Balancing life, Be Your Best Self, Build the Strength Within, Uncategorized

Life is busy, no matter what you are doing. On my personal FB page, friends from high school are loving the photos one of our classmates is sharing from Bora Bora. Lovely place, truly gorgeous and relaxing….but busy anyhow….busy getting the money made to go there, busy making all the provisions to be there, busy trying to relax while there. Life is busy.

I do what I can to ensure I take a break every day from my work and I still find myself having to really exert the energy to make it happen, the break that is — and this is my life’s work and passion. Things are happily busy but it is still stressful and it is tough to get a busy mind to quiet down. Even during yoga or walking or meditations or massage or a swim, my mind is busy with the lists of what all I am eager to do, to accomplish.

Two full weeks of complete voice rest, one week on either side of that of a raspy vocal ability — makes me think very deeply about what it is I am willing to expend my energy to say.

Today, I spent a lot of time in my gardens. Living it. It is life and it is beauty. I took off just in time to make it to the Bach Society Concert — http://www.bachsociety.org/videos — in and old Polish Catholic Church in a run down neighborhood………the concert was Northern Lights: Enchanting Sounds From Scandinavia…my lineage on both sides covered and honored. 50 male and female voices on stage, conducted by A. Dennis Sparger. Awesome is the word. Piano, violin, viola, cello, Ave Maris Stella, On suuri sun rantas’autius with Carin Gado-Recks as Mezzo-soprano……and so much more. It was musical magic that touched the spirit of me to the core and prompted my inner strength as I felt this great connection to others and felt the joy of what happens when we take our passions and apply them and create greatness…….. http://www.bachsociety.org/schedule/concerts

Music soothes the soul, builds the inner connection we have to one another and the earth, and fills us with a beautiful energy if we ill allow it. Pick your music, tune in, hum, sing, rejoice, cry…..but above all, just feel.
