What a fun day!

We ought to be able to find time in the evening of a day to express what was joyful, even in the midst of extreme sorrow or fear or illness or despair. It is not a stretch to make this statement. Even when my closest loved ones were so very ill and at the end of their days, I found a way to look into their eyes and feel their hearts and know I needed to appreciate the moment….because all too soon it would be gone.

Tips by which to live in appreciation:

1.

Each and every day, I awaken and feel my breath and give thanks for the ability to breathe on my own — no ventilator doing it for me. I remember, however, waking up to loved ones trapped on life support and acknowledging their misery.

2.

I think of the people I know who are blind, from being elderly or from early in life trauma and I rejoice what it is that I see when my eyes first open in the morning.

3. I arise and, as I get out of bed and feel stiff and a bit limpy, I rejoice that I can feel at all and that today I had another opportunity to swim and do yoga and walk and without a cane or a walker and without a wheelchair. I think about the people in my life confined to a chair and pray for their courage and bright attitudes to remain intact.

If you are experiencing awareness in this moment, you have reason to say this is indeed a fun day. Love it, the strength within you has fortified your spirit and you are here.
