Whenever a story hits the news about some kid, some adolescent, some young adult who has gone on a killing spree, there is a crowd of people asking — how is this possible? People talk about how that individual was so quiet and reserved and never seemed to bother anybody. These statements are made as somehow they are describing normal behavior.
Wrong.
Human beings have reactions to this life experience. If you meet up with a person who is deadpan about it all, something is terribly wrong. Ask yourself — where is the animation?
There is no such thing as a bad kid – babies are born innocent and we then shape them as we introduce them to the world. There is the reality however, of innocence stolen when we sit on the sidelines and watch a kid grow up without exhibiting normal behavior patterns and make excuses about it all. Whether you agree with her politics or not, Hilary was correct when she said – it takes a village to raise a child.
The children of this country, and this planet, belong to all of us. We will pay a heavy price each time we turn a blind eye, a deaf ear, and a frightened heart, to a child in trouble.
The kids who demonstrate the most devastating crimes are crying out loud and screaming because no one was hearing them prior to that.
